Do teak furniture need or should it be oiled?

No. Teak wood that's kept outdoors can, and indeed should, be left untreated. Oiling isn't a matter of wood preservation, but rather a matter of taste. Oiling darkens the wood, and regular treatment prevents patination. However, you should only oil furniture that's kept indoors, because rain washes out the oil, causing the wood to turn gray in places. The furniture will become stained!

I want to leave my garden furniture outside all year round. Which furniture is best suited for this?

All of them! Thanks to the high rubber content of teak, our teak furniture is resistant to water, heat, and frost. One more tip: Teak doesn't require a protective coating. However, twice a year, teak furniture should be cleaned of dust and other contaminants using warm soapy water and a root brush (see also care instructions). For our wicker furniture, we only use materials that are completely weatherproof and resistant to a very wide temperature range (for example, Viro® material can withstand temperatures from -95°C to +85°C). So, whether you plan to use Teakoutlet furniture in the winter cold of the Zugspitze or the summer heat of a Canary Island, Teakoutlet furniture can handle it all. Covers or tarpaulins also offer protection from dirt. For the covers and tarpaulins, you should use a material that allows the wood to breathe, such as our Premium Covers.

We're looking to buy a large parasol. Are there any special considerations we should make?

A summer canopy will accompany you throughout the day. It protects you from the sun's glare during the day and retains warmth over your seating area long into the evening. You can choose to place the summer canopy in the center of a table—assuming the table has a parasol hole—or place it next to the seating area. Depending on your needs, the summer canopy is available in a variety of colors. You can learn about the key differences in our umbrellas section. How long does it take for my teak furniture to develop a beautiful silver-grey patina?

The patina begins to form within the first year. How quickly depends on the weather. In dry summers, it doesn't develop as much. If it rains frequently, the teak will gray more quickly. It also depends on the location. If wind and sun accelerate the drying process, the patina doesn't form as quickly as where moisture persists for longer.

Why do cracks occasionally appear on my furniture?

Teak is a natural material, and as such, fine cracks in the grain may appear on the face of components and then disappear with changes in weather and moisture content. Such fine cracks are normal, especially on heavier furniture pieces, and do not affect the service life or usability of your furniture.

Will the metal fittings on my furniture last as long as the teak?

We use only marine-grade stainless steel and solid brass in our furniture. None of these materials will rust or deteriorate with age.

I bought furniture from you a few years ago. Can I still buy chairs and a bench now?

Yes, Teakoutlet voluntarily offers a four-year availability guarantee on all furniture from the date of purchase. Since we don't carry any "seasonal products" in our own range, some of our product families have been in our program since 2004 (e.g., Florida, Royal, Madison, Elegance, Lorraine, Trinity, etc.). Customers who have purchased products from these furniture families now effectively have a availability guarantee of over 20 years (which is often used). This is what we understand by sustainability. However, we reserve the right to make minor design changes and changes to product care. Color variations are also possible for products made from wickerwork, coverings, and textiles.

Can we use any of your chairs with any of your tables?

All our chairs and tables are manufactured to a standard size that ensures the correct distance between the seat and the tabletop, ensuring you'll always be comfortable while dining. You can therefore confidently combine any of our chairs with any of our tables.

Why are there gaps between the wooden strips of the table surfaces?

Teak used outdoors "works," meaning it swells slightly in damp conditions and shrinks slightly in dry conditions. The gaps in the table surface provide just enough room for the individual wooden strips to move, preventing damage to the tenons and glued joints as the wood moves. Furthermore, rainwater and meltwater can drain more easily through the slots, preventing large puddles from forming on the table surface.

I would like to order editions in a special color or as a custom-made product - what delivery time should I expect?

Due to our large color selection, we can only produce custom-colored or customized editions after receiving the order (it's simply not possible to keep all 96 colors in stock). Delivery of such editions can therefore take up to 10 weeks – 6 of which are for sea transport from the production facility in Indonesia to our warehouse.

There is a light grey layer on the surface of my new furniture in some places - how can I remove it?

Sometimes, during transport at sea – due to the extreme climatic conditions in the sea freight container – condensation forms, which then combines with the sanding dust on the surface of the furniture to form a light gray layer. The easiest way to remove this layer is while it's dry, using a rough sponge or scouring pad (e.g., the dark, rough side of a kitchen sponge). Please also allow the sponge to dry while you do this – you'll quickly see the honey-brown color of the natural teak underneath. The gray layer has no effect on the quality or durability.

Assembly

Does your furniture need to be assembled?

Some pieces are delivered fully assembled (folding tables, folding chairs, stacking chairs, deck chairs, and stools), while others require minor assembly (tables, loungers, benches, and fixed chairs). In such cases, assembly instructions are included in each box. We can also handle the assembly work for you and assemble the furniture here in our facility. However, this significantly increases transport costs, as the assembled furniture requires significantly more space in the truck, and the shipping company can charge up to four times the price.

For assembly you only need common household tools:

For Florida and Hampton loungers, Hampton, Florida, Denver, Comforteck, Moselle, Florence and Elegance tables: Screwdriver and open-end wrench (Hampton only).

For the Briston, Fides, Florence, Planka, Hampton and Zilart tables: open-end wrench.

For the Ellen, Mood, Katta and Stor tables: Allen key (included).

For Florida, Comforteck and Trent Foot Rest: Size 5 Allen key (as used on many Ikea furniture - so you probably already have a key of this type at home anyway).

For all teak benches and fixed chairs: screwdriver, small saw and sandpaper - use the saw to saw off the wooden dowels at the end and then sand them smooth with the sandpaper

For umbrellas and sun roofs: here only the fabric covering needs to be pulled on and then the umbrella tip needs to be fixed with a screwdriver

Wicker furniture: are fully assembled and just need to be unpacked.

Are there any additional costs for shipping the furniture or are these already included in the prices?

Shipping costs for all furniture deliveries within Germany are included in our listed prices. For all other deliveries (e.g., via parcel service), the shipping costs are displayed on the item page after clicking on "Plus Shipping Costs." You can also view shipping costs for other countries there. If you already have products in your shopping cart, the shipping costs for Germany will also be displayed directly.

We accidentally damaged our parasol and a chair – what can we do?

Many parts of our furniture are easy to replace. Based on your description (preferably by emailing or mailing us clear digital photos to beratung@teakoutlet.de ), we can send them to you, and you can repair your furniture yourself on-site. If the repair is more complex, we can pick up your furniture from you and provide a cost estimate. You can then decide whether you want us to repair it.

We have a holiday home in southern Spain and would like to use furniture from TEAKoOUTLET there. Can the furniture be delivered directly there?

Yes. We generally ship to any country within Europe. Please contact us for exact delivery costs. We will then provide you with a personalized quote.

I'm interested in one of your set offers, but I need more chairs. Will I also get a special price for the additional chairs?

Yes. Simply send us an email to sales@teakoutlet.de detailing your additional requests and the desired set, and we'll send you a quote with your special price. The same applies if you need fewer chairs than included in our sets.

Does your furniture have a warranty?

Yes, we offer a special 2-year warranty on all teak furniture. This covers all defects resulting from faulty materials or workmanship under normal use. Special conditions or exceptions to this warranty may apply to certain items intended for commercial use or use by the general public; please contact us for details.

Can I pick up the furniture myself or do I have to have it delivered? How do I pay for self-pickup?

You are also welcome to pick up the furniture yourself and thus completely save any shipping costs - self-collection costs nothing, so there are no storage fees as is often the case.

Please double-check before you arrive to make sure all the furniture will fit in your vehicle. Unfortunately, it often happens that customers have to leave without completing their order because the furniture doesn't fit in their vehicle as planned. You can ask us about the dimensions of the boxes.

If you pick up the furniture yourself, you can either pay in advance by bank transfer - then you can drive to the warehouse in Rottenburg immediately after receipt of payment and pick up your furniture -

Or you can pay for the furniture in cash or by debit card at our office in Hechingen prior to collection. We will then issue you with a collection slip for your furniture, which you can then use to collect your furniture from our warehouse in Rottenburg. The travel time from our office in Hechingen to the warehouse in Rottenburg is approximately 25 minutes.

Can I get the furniture on account or do I have to pay in advance?

In our online shop, you also have the option of paying your entire order "on account." We will soon be able to offer installment payments as well.

I can't be home when the furniture is delivered. Can you deliver the furniture to a neighbor's house or store it in our garage?

Of course, that's no problem. Please let us know exactly where you'd like us to deliver or leave the furniture.
